Many things can give writers fits, like including the faith thread. Sharon Hinck is back this Mixing-It-Up Monday to share more advice where sharing our faith in our fiction is concerned. Enjoy! ~ Annette
Seeking Guidance*
by Sharon Hinck
Just as we look for the most appropriate place, time, and
words for telling our neighbor about the love of Christ, as writers we need to
seek God’s direction for how we share our faith within our stories.
Sometimes when we feel a passion toward a certain direction,
we begin to judge others who are called to a different priority. “I don’t like
how her novels show scenes happening in a church, or characters praying all the
time.” “His books are too secular. They never mention Jesus.” “All stories
should have a salvation scene so readers know how to accept Jesus as Savior if
they read the book.” “We need to appeal to the wider market and avoid offending
people with specifics about faith.”
Instead of scorning the choices another writer makes, let
God direct you to the sort of writing, the audience, and the arena where He
wants to use you.

The Restorer-Expanded Edition
Susan
Mitchell thought she was an ordinary homemaker. She was wrong. When she’s
pulled through a portal into another world, she finds a nation grappling for
its soul and waiting for a promised Restorer to save their people.
She has always longed to do something important for God, but can she fill this role?
While she struggles to adapt to a foreign culture, she tackles an enemy that is poisoning the minds of the people, uncovers a corrupt ruling Council, and learns that God can use even her floundering attempts at service in surprising ways.
This new expanded edition of The Restorer includes an in-depth devotion guide for readers who want to dig into the spiritual themes of the book, bonus scenes providing glimpses of the story through a variety of characters, and fun extras including links to songs and recipes.
